I’ve been wanting to start a blog for quite some time now. Actually, I should say I’ve been wanting to become a blogger for quite some time. I’ve tried twice but have not kept them up so I’m trying again.
What’s different about this time? Well, I am more aware of what I want to share, and that is a little about all things that interest me.
As I finish my formal schooling this month, graduating with an MS in Nonprofit Management and a certificate in Organizational Development from The New School in New York City, I’ve reflected on some of the learning experiences that have most deeply impacted my life and many have occurred outside the classroom. I’m amazed by what I learn from my 8-month-old son as he grows and changes each day and my husband and I make choices to give him the healthiest and happiest possible start. Becoming a mom has given me a new perspective of time and making good use of the time I have with others.
Although I’ve returned from the Peace Corps in Botswana over 2 years ago I continue to reflect on my experience and what I’ve learned. The cross cultural interactions with like-minded people from diverse backgrounds and others with totally different perspectives have helped me see the world through a different lens. I have become a lot more open to learning from every thing I do and finding a way to share what I have learned. The exposure to public health while in the Peace Corps and working as a case manager for people nearing the end of their lifetime limit of welfare benefits here in America, have helped me understand the importance of learning and sharing as I walk through life.
These experiences have lead me to explore parenting, health, fitness, holistic living and community development. ‘ Learning Life…one woman’s journey’ is my way of sharing the joys and challenges that come with living life.
I hope people from all walks of life will be able to read, relate and retain something from my posts. Feel free to share what you know, and ask about what you’re interested in and I’ll try my best to get some info back to you.
