It’s back to school time…well not for me but for many people around me. This weekend got me thinking about the many occasions we get together. For my family going to school is a big deal. ESPECIALLY college.
little younger 😉cousin Brie started her junior year at Barnard College this week and I just started reflecting. When I was going to Temple University my family would MOVE ME IN all four years. I mean there was never a drop off HA! They would bring my belongings, then we would shop for cleaning supplies, that we didn’t already have, do a THOROUGH wipe down, unpack COMPLETELY, then go out for dinner. Oh and I can’t forget stopping at the grocery store to stock up before parting. It was truly a family affair EVERY YEAR!!
Same thing for my cousins even if you chose NOT to live on campus. Many calls or texts would be sent to wish you well on your first day. And the this tradition continues. My aunt flew with my cousin from Cali, stayed for the week and spent Sunday (with her two daughters) MOVING BRIE IN!!
I love family gatherings and support especially when it’s all about encouraging each other to reach for the stars!! I always think about the holidays or special occasions and how a lot of the focus gets shifted to “things” instead of people and this is one of the special occasions that allow you I focus on people instead of “things”.
Congrats and good luck to all the students who start school this season!! And many thanks to all the family members pushing each other to ALWAYS dream big, set goals and go after them!
